This designation is a tungsten electrode containing 1.3-1.5% of dispersed lanthanum oxide for enhanced arc starting and stability, reduced tip erosion rate, and extended operating current range.
- Can be used as nonradioactive substitutes for 2% thoriated tungsten as the operating characteristics are very similar.
- Used for both DC and AC applications
- AWS Class EWLa-1.5, color gold
